World-renowned floral exhibition at The Leaf in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada celebrates Manitoba’s vibrant arts scene

Fleurs de Villes is a world-renowned floral experience behind exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Its name translates to flowers of the cities. In cities where exhibitions are staged, they work with top local florists, designers, growers, and nurseries to showcase artful flower displays. Each show is unique and may be centered around a particular theme.

Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE at The Leaf in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is based on the ARTISTE theme, in which floral displays are inspired by remarkable artists across various disciplines. It features fresh floral mannequins designed by local florists in collaboration with Manitoba arts and cultural organizations. It is a floral celebration of Manitoba’s vibrant arts scene.

Located in Assiniboine Park in a stunning building with a translucent, curving roof, The Leaf is an indoor horticultural attraction featuring tropical and Mediterranean biomes and a butterfly garden. You can read more about it in my post The Leaf Tropical Gardens in Winnipeg. It is a perfect setting for the exhibition.

Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE at The Leaf features 15 mannequins at the centre of elaborate floral displays. The costumes worn by the mannequins are all created from flowers or leaves. Designs made from other blossoms surround them.

Signage beside each display recognizes the artist and provides information about the flowers used and what the display represents. In the case of the Manitoba Museum display, the mushrooms on the platform represent the dome shape of the planetarium, the polar bear pays homage to the diorama in the Arctic and Subarctic Gallery, and the mannequin’s cloak features patterns drawn from the Nonsuch Gallery.

All the flowers, including many roses, created sweet scents as I walked by. This was most noticeable at the Manitoba Opera mannequin with its numerous red roses.

Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE at The Leaf runs from January 16, 2025 to January 26, 2025. This is the second year the show has appeared at The Leaf. It is likely to become an annual event. Fleurs de Villes has a tagline Flowers Make Us Happy. The display certainly brought smiles to me and other people I saw at the exhibition. It was particularly special to see this bright display in the middle of winter.
