Travel and Attitude: Favourite Quotes
Your travel experience is influenced by what you  bring with you: your attitude and state of mind
What makes the difference between a great travel experience and a disastrous one is often not what you find at your destination, but what you bring with you, your attitude and state of mind. It’s your willingness to experience something new, your openness to different cultures, your sense of humour when things go wrong, your patience when you’re lost, your acceptance of a different environment, and your interest and respect for the people around you that makes the difference. In today’s post, I share some of my favourite travel quotes.
If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousness, unforgiveness, selfishness, and fears. Cesar Pavese
Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. Â Ralph Waldo Emerson
Bizarre travel plans are dancing lessons from God. Â Kurt Vonnegut
Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and celebrate the journey. Â Fitzhugh Mullen
There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign. Â Robert Louis Stevenson
One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things. Â Henry Miller

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. Â Jawaharial Nehru
One of the great things about travel is that you discover how many good, kind people there are. Â Edith Wharton
These are great quotes. Many of them apply not only to travel but also to life in general.
Boy howdy. My husband could learn to just relax and let it go when things don’t go as planned… LOL. I love the quotes. The pothole one is for my husband all the rest is for me. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
Nice travel quotes. Love them.
“Not all those who wander are lost.” — J. R. R. Tolkien. I have another one but I don’t know the exact words so unable to put it here 🙂
I like that quote too Joanne.
I love inspirational quotes and post them all the time on Facebook. The most recent quote I’ve used that could be related to travel is: “Keep close to Nature’s heart. Break clear away once in awhile, Climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.” John Muir
Of the quotes you used above, I think I like the first one the most.
I’d not come across that quote before Michele. I like it. Thanks.
These are great! And I really liked your intro. I’ve struggled with every one of those things at one time or another while traveling, and wouldn’t trade any of those experiences for anything.
Fabulous quotes. In the years when I traveled extensively, I too struggled sometimes with endless delays and mindless people:) From now on, I’m going to recall one of these masterful quotes just so I can put things in the proper perspective!
Gosh, I don’t. But I like all of these. I don’t travel too much since adopting two kids from China and Kazakhstan. Those trips were fabulous. Hope to get on the road again soon. NIce ones!!
